Digital Opportunities:Sustainably benefiting from the ICT-boom
The economies of Asia and Africa are growing and that is partly thanks to the rise of mobile phones, internet and outsourcing. Not only does it create job opportunities and economic
prosperity, it also stimulates innovation, knowledge and creativity as well as access to international networks and markets. However, the question is whether the rise of this
new industry also has a positive impact on the quality of life of the average citizen in Africa and Asia.
What conditions are needed to realise a solid cross-pollination between international companies and local entrepreneurs? Is there a role to play for the public sector? For civil society? If so, what? In short: how can we maximize the benefits of the ICT-boom?
On Friday the 16th of January the sixth Fill the Gap! will shine a light on the ICT industry in Africa and Asia.
With special keynote speakers, including:
Paul Tjia, founder of GPI Consultancy, one of the few independent Dutch consultancy firms in the field of offshore outsourcing
David Barnard, CEO of SANGONeT, a successful not-for-profit company in the field of ICT and development based in South Africa.
Apart from the debate there is also plenty of time to enlarge your network: during the afternoon there will be plenty of opportunities to enable you to meet keyplayers and other actors in the field of ICT, off-shore outsourcing and development cooperation in a quick, but effective way.
