E-waste recycling in India - new shocking information and footage

In the streets of Mustaffabad, a poor quarter of Delhi, children in sandals sit on top of piles of broken glass and twisted metal, smashing computer monitors. They are electronic waste (e-waste) recyclers, who make a living by tearing apart the toxic remains of old home computers, cell phones and printer cartridges from the United States and other countries. India imported about 50,000 tons of e-waste last year, and e-waste employs about 25,000 people in Delhi.
Thai labour union signs victory agreement with Hoya Glass Disk

Thursday November 13, 2008, a meeting took place in the ongoing negotiations between labour union EEALU, representatives of Hoya Glass Disk (Thailand) and officials of the Thai Ministry of Labour in Lamphun province. This time with a very positive result: an agreement was signed between the labour union and the company.

On Nov 3 2008, shareholders of Fujitsu announced that Fujitsu is to acquire Siemens’ 50% share in the joint venture Fujitsu Siemens Computers, effective April 1, 2009.
