Philips Electronics – Overview of controversial business practices in 2008
26 March 2009
This company report provides an overview of business practices that could be regarded as unsustainable or irresponsible, which occurred or might have been addressed in 2008. In addition, it describes developments on some of the issues identified in a similar overview for 2007. The overview includes cases on labour rights in Mexico and working conditions at a Philips supplier in China.
This report serves as input for questions the Dutch Association of Investors for Sustainable Development VBDO will raise during Philips’ shareholders meeting, on Friday March 27th, 2009. Also, VBDO has published a ‘Sustainable Voting Advice’ for the benefit of its members, guiding them in their voting during tomorrow’s shareholders meeting.
