The fiasco of exploding Galaxy Note 7 phones and Samsung’s subsequent decision to halt production of the newly introduced Note is directly affecting workers in Vietnam.

At Samsung Electronics’ plant in Bac Ninh, which employs over 100.000 workers, workers feel the consequences of the cancelled orders. Nikkei Asia Review reports that some workers have been told to stay home, with their pay being reduced to 30%, while those who are still working at the factory earn up to 50% less because they cannot earn overtime payments. The sudden drop in income means that these workers are struggling to make ends meet.
