ECOS – the European Environmental Citizens’ Organisation for Standardisation
Objectives: Improve implementation of environmental policy, promote the integration of environmental aspects into standardisation and enhance the implementation of the Ecodesign of Energy Using Products policy. Activities focus on technical expertise, but also involve some advocacy, towards: - EU standardisation bodies CEN and CENELEC and its technical committees as well as ISO and IEC (their global counterparts); - Policy-makers, especially the European Commission; - NGOs (awareness raising regarding the importance of standardisation with respect to the areas of environment and energy); - OECD (nanotechnologies); UN/ECE (car emission test cycles).
