A factory that made batteries for the explosion-prone Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones caught fire last week.
Pictures of black smoke coming out of the plant were circulating on Weibo (the Chinese version of Twitter). Bloomberg confirmed that there was indeed a fire at a plant operated by the affiliate of Samsung Electronics in Tianjin, China. According to a Samsung spokesperson, the fire happened at a waste depository factory, not in a production one. He also stated that the fire was small, but the pictures of the plumes of black smoke rising into the air tell another story.
The fire at the Samsung battery factory is another incident in the drama of the burning batteries of the Galaxy Note 7.
