Though Chinese labor law prohibits the employment of children under the age of 16, child labor is a standard practice at Yonghong Electronics. SACOM interviewed 25 workers from Yonghong, including 7 underage workers. All the interviewed workers testified that Yonghong employs children under 16 years old. SACOM thereafter
confirmed workers’ comments with Yonghong security and personnel officers. According to one worker with 3 years experience at the site, Yonghong have hired
children throughout the previous 3 years.
