South Korean prosecutors seek a 12-year jail term for Samsung’s Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong. The charges against Lee include bribing associates of the then-president Park Geun-hye, in return for government support in helping Lee cement control of the group.
The court ruling is expected before August 27th, when Lee’s current period of detention ends. Other charges he faces include wrongfully transferring assets overseas and hiding the proceeds of a crime.
