The Metal Workers Alliance of the Philippines (MWAP) congratulates the Fuji Electric workers represented by Lakas ng Nagkakaisang Manggagawa ng Fuji Electric Philippines(LNMFEP)-OLALIA-KMU (Power of United Workers of Fuji Electric Philippines) for their recently concluded collective bargaining agreement. After 23 negotiations between the union and the management and several attempts of the management to undermine workers’ demands, the CBA was formally signed last December 17, 2020.
The CBA contains important economic provisions for significant wage increases, additional benefits, new provisions related to the pandemic, and political provisions to protect the workers inside the workplace.
“This victory is the result of the strong collective struggle of the entire union membership in Fuji Electric Philippines-OLALIA-KMU. Once again, the success of Fuji Electric workers has shown how essential and important it is to have a union that truly promotes the welfare of the workers,” Julius Carandang, MWAP National Coordinator said.
The CBA Fuji Electric PH was concluded two weeks after the CBA of Nexperia was also concluded. MWAP believes that this back to back victory for the workers can help raise the standards in the industry. “More workers in electronics need to be organized. We hope that these positive developments will encourage our unions and more workers to organize more unions and continuously take action inside and outside the workplace for fair wages, job security, and safe workplaces,” Carandang added.#
