The GoodElectronics Network held a public forum and members meeting in November 2025, with 40 participants from different organizations from around the world gathering for human and labor rights and sustainability in the global electronics supply chain. This is the first public forum and members’ meeting spearheaded by the Ecumenical Institute for Labor Education and Research (EILER).

Public Forum

The public forum opened with remarks from Rochelle Porras, the representative of the new host institution, and Regional Coordinator for Asia Pacific of the GoodElectronics Network Global Secretariat. Mr. Yulo Lao of Public Services International moderated the discussions. GE Network Global Coordinator Eleanor de Guzman discussed The Chip War, Supply Shifts and Impacts on Workers and Communities. Alexander Ivanou, Steering Committee member and Director of Materials Industries and ICT, electrical and electronics of the IndustriALL Global Union  continued the discussion on global trends via a recorded presentation.

The parallel sessions proved to be meaningful as participants shared country contexts and ongoing activities after inputs from session resource persons. The four sessions were divided into themes, namely, (1) People and Planet and (2) Dignity and Workplace Safety.

The first parallel session included (1) Labor Rights in the Electronics Industry discussed by Gokhul Raj of CIVIDEP India, and (2) Freedom from gender-based violence was  delivered by Rochelle Porras of the GoodElectronics Network Global Secretariat.

The second parallel session included Shigeru Tanaka, Pacific Asia Resource Center (PARC) in Japan who discussed (1) Environmental Impacts of the Electronics Industry. Simultaneously, Ted Smith of the International Campaign for Responsible Technology (ICRT) in the USA headed the discussion on (3) Freedom from Chemical Hazards.

Members’ Meeting

The members’ meeting re-introduced the new host, the Steering Committee and the Global Secretariat.

The activities from 2024 to 2025 were presented, as well as GE Network Hosting Action Plan, endorsed by the Steering Committee in July 2025.  Reports, publications and news articles on the freedom of association, on occupational health and safety, on labor conditions around the globe, on news and legislations that affect workers, on migrant workers, on tariff and chip wars and on the power struggle between the US and China in controlling chips and manufacturing were also shared. There are also news releases on the activities of GoodElectronics members.

The network members then provided updates on their current activities and outlined their on‑the‑ground campaign plans for the remainder of the year, as well as their prospects for 2026. This information will feed into the development of Good Electronics’ global strategy for 2026 to 2030. The final output of the meeting is the short term action plan covering the first six months of 2026.
