Swedwatch has just released its latest report on the impacts of hazardous chemicals on how women workers in electronic factories in the Philippines are exposed to a wide range of hazardous chemicals at work. The report also shows how the Philippines union and rights defenders are under constant attack, even murdered. This shows the dire situation of human rights in the Philippines.
The report titled, ‘Hazardous Chemicals in ICT Manufacturing and the Impacts on Female Workers in the Philippines’ also discusses what the companies are doing to assess and address workers’ exposure to hazardous chemicals in the Philippines. Further, the report also explores brands’ approach to human rights due diligence (HRDD) and the gender perspective.
One of the key findings is that the companies failed to provide information on how they address the issues. The report recommends, among others, to promote and defend workers participation throughout the supply chain.
