On May 7, Taiwanese groups hosted a candlelight vigil late in Taipei to call attention to the long hours facing employees of local high-tech companies, part of a worldwide action to protest poor working conditions in the information technology (IT) sector. On May 7, Taiwanese groups hosted a candlelight vigil late in Taipei to call attention to the long hours facing employees of local high-tech companies, part of a worldwide action to protest poor working conditions in the information technology (IT) sector.
The vigil was organised by the High-Tech Cold-Blooded Youth. and was joined by the Youth Labor Union 95, and supporters from Taiwan Association for Victims of Occupational Injuries (TAVOI), the Labor Party, the Preparatory Committee of the Trade Union for the Electronics, Electrical and Information Workers, the Green Party, Taiwan Front for Farming Villages and many others persons who came to express their solidarity.
