The GoodElectronics Network is pleased to announce that Rochelle Porras has been selected as the new Regional Coordinator based in Asia. We welcome Rochelle who is from the Philippines and her commitment to improve working conditions in electronic factories and mining sites in producing countries and the global supply chain.

Rochelle is a labour rights defender and development worker who has been actively supporting initiatives of electronics workers and unions in the Philippines. She has 15 years of experience in non-profit organisations, including her years with the Ecumenical Institute for Labor Education and Research (EILER). She pioneered creation of education modules the workers including Module for Instructors of OESH in electronics sector and Gender and Labor module for women workers. She is a co-convener of the Labor Rights Defenders Network which aims to support trade unionists and rights defenders under attack. She is also one of the lead petitioners against the Anti-Terror Act of 2020, which infringes on the rights of individuals and civil society in the Philippines.

Staying true to her roots in mass media, Rochelle is a fellow at the Photojournalist Center of the Philippines and has contributed articles documenting the plight of the workers and labor rights defenders to numerous publications and news outfits. Her years of labor research, multimedia and development work, speak volumes of her advocacy to promote and uphold trade union rights. 

Rochelle graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Communication and earned her graduate diploma in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of the Philippines.
