On 25-26 November, GoodElectronics and makeITfair are organising an expert meeting on training of workers in the electronics industry. Besides unions, NGOs are active in providing training to workers to help them understand their rights. Companies also are beginning to undertake activities in this field. Companies, however, often have a one-sided outlook, emphasising harmonious communication between management and employees and the duties and responsibilities of employees, without ensuring that employees are well informed about their rights or enjoying their rights. The purpose of the GoodElectronics and makeITfair expert meeting is to formulate principles and prerequisites which define effective educational programs for workers. The meeting takes place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Among the participants are trade unions and NGOs from Southern electronics producing countries as well as relevant external experts.
