More than 120 delegates from 20 countries attended the event. Occupational and environmental victims narrated their various ordeal and their quest for justice. Victims from Korea, Taiwan, India, Philippines and Indonesia shared their stories.
According to Mohit Gupta, coordinator of ANROEV, voices of victims are very important to the network. “We bring together occupational and environmental victims to provide them the necessary space to be heard. Their voice matters.”
The conference also saw Dr. Vo Dai Luoc from the Occupational Disease Agency and Nguyen Anh Tho from the Ministry of Occupational Safety and Health, aside from representatives for the International Labour Organization and the World Health Organization.
ANROEV is an occupational and environmental victims network composed of victims groups, non-governmental organizations, trade unions, doctors and lawyers, experts and individuals bonded together in seeking for justice and compensation for all victims and promotion of a safer and healthier workplace across Asia. The conference in Vietnam this year was co-organized by ANROEV, Asia Monitor Resource Centre (AMRC) with Vietnam Center for Development and Integration (CDI).
