While the Chinese smartphone market did not grow in the third quarter in 2017, the share of the five biggest companies grew and now occupy more than 75% of the market in China. Especially Apple and Xiaomi grew strongly.
The smartphone market is getting saturated in China. But the top 5 smartphone companies are still trying to try to find ways to convince the consumers. With aggressive sponsorship of key television programmes for example, they manage to steal market share from their competitors.
The IDC reported that the competition will heat up and the companies have to maintain or increase their marketing activities in the next quarters. For smaller players without a big marketing budget it will be harder to survive in China’s smartphone market.
