As of June 30, 2014, Fundacja Kupuj Odpowiedzialnie (FKO)/Buy Responsibly Foundation has joined the GoodElectronics Network. The foundation, based in Krakow, focuses on sustainable development and environmental protection, responsible consumption and production, as well as respect for human rights and environmental principles in business.

FKO’s goal is to raise awareness among Polish citizens, and increase their ability to make environmentally and socially responsible consumer choices. FKO does this by trying to show under what conditions the goods that we buy every day are produced. “We organize conferences, debates, film screenings, exhibitions, festivals and trainings. We also publish consumer guides, manuals for teachers and educational brochures for the youth”, vice-president of the Board Joanna Szabuńko said.

For example, FKO has co-created the ‘Sustainable consumption Where-to-go-guides’, with sustainable shops and cafes in eight Polish cities. In August 2011, the foundation published the ‘Good Shopping Guide’, a ranking of Polish brands in terms of their social and environmental responsibility.

Collaboration

FKO started in 2002 as a daughter organization of the Polish Green Network. Since January 2014, it is an independent foundation. FKO places great emphasis on collaboration, both nationally and internationally. FKO is a member of the Polish Fair Trade Coalition and coordinator of the Polish Clean Clothes Campaign.

“It is essential to cooperate with others through international networks like GoodElectronics in order to make the consumers’ campaign we run in Poland more effective. At the same time, we think that, thanks to our experience and recognition in Poland, we could contribute to the work of your network and strengthen the support for GoodElectronics among Polish consumers.”
