The Nexperia Philippines Inc. Workers Union – NAFLU – KMU (NPIWU-NAFLU-KMU) union waged the first day of its strike on March 5, 2025.

This comes after 21 negotiations under their Collective Bargaining Agreement and three more conciliation hearings after Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma imposed an Assumption of Jurisdiction* last February 5, 2025.

Nexperia management remains firm on its offer of a PHP 17 (USD 0.30) daily wage increase, far below the union’s demand of PHP 50 (USD 0.87) despite the workers productivity – creating around seven million microchips daily.

Nexperia workers remain steadfast to fight for just wages, job security and freedom of association – 80% of its 1,800 workers signified their determination to strike.

On March 5, 2025 at 1:50 PM in the Philippines, Nexperia workers stopped production.

As of March 5, 2025 at 6:00 PM, Nexperia management has already cut off their water and electricity supply, and has closed the canteen – the only source of food for workers from two shifts barricading inside the factory. Despite this, workers remain determined and continue to build up their numbers in a vigil outside the industrial park.

Let us stand together with Nexperia workers. The Nexperia workers’ battle is not just their own—it is a reflection of the global struggle against the forces that seek to divide and exploit working people for corporate gain. Their fight is ours, and in solidarity, we can push back against the corporate greed that affects all of us.

* The AJ may be imposed by the DOLE Secretary over labor disputes in industries “indispensable to national interest.” This forces workers to resume production, prevents them from launching a strike, and allows the police and military to violently disperse strikers and demolish picketlines.

Here’s how you can stand with Nexperia workers in their struggle:

1. Issue public statements of solidarity
– Condemning DOLE’s assumption of jurisdiction order and Nexperia’s labor rights violations and union busting.
– Calling for a ₱50 daily wage increase for workers;
– The reinstatement of union officials unfairly dismissed by management; and
– An end to the wave of layoffs and the exploitation of workers at Nexperia.

2. Pressure high-ranking officials and Nexperia International:
– Write to President Bongbong Marcos and DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma to lift the Assumption of Jurisdiction
