Toshiba will build new production lines at its main semiconductor memory plant to address a demand increase.

Subsidiary Toshiba Memory foresees this increase in 2018 and will bear the entire cost of this planned 195 billion yen ($1.76 billion) investment. Talks with Western Digital on sharing the investment broke down as confrontation continues.
