A survey commissioned by Greenpeace shows that the majority of consumers think that phone manufacturers release too many new models. Almost half said that they agreed that companies should take more responsibility to support recycling.
Around six thousand people from the US, Mexico, Russia, Germany, China and South Korea were interviewed about their smartphone consumption pattern. On average, the respondents have at least three phones at home that they are not using.
With the release of Greenpeace’s study, a new campaign has been launched to challenge the IT industry to reduce its energy and toxic chemical use.
