NégaWatt, an organization focused on sustainable energy, has released a report about lithium, a crucial element for making Li-ion batteries. The report emphasizes the importance of electric vehicles in fighting climate change. However, it warns that if we don’t plan carefully, there could be negative consequences for the lithium and cobalt industries, as well as issues related to water usage, soil degradation, toxicity, and loss of biodiversity. To address these concerns, NégaWatt proposes a transportation revolution that includes participatory mobility and the use of bioNGV. In planning for the shift towards sustainable energy, we need to consider the environmental impact of both material production and consumption.
