On December 27, PMWDC issued a statement condemning violence against citizens defending worker rights and calling on the government to investigate the incident and prosecute the perpetrators. The statement was swiftly signed by over 20 labour organizations in mainland China and more than 2,000 individuals. The Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions and Globalization Monitor have posted an online petition in support of these demands.
