Updated version of 'The dark side of cyberspace - inside the sweatshops of China's computer hardware production'

26 March 2009

WEED and SACOM have released an updated an revised version of “The Dark Side of Cyberspace - Inside the Sweatshops of China’s Hardware Production”. The study is based on interviews conducted with tens of employees of Compeq Technology and Excelsior Electronics, two suppliers of well-known computer companies, such as Dell, Lenovo, Fujitsu Siemens Computers and others. The report paints an alarming picture of the working conditions in this industry, with massive violations of the national labour law, ILO Conventions and the brand companies’ own codes of conduct. In the revised version, responses by the companies under scrutiny have been processed.
